Samuel Albert Montgomery was the 2nd child born to LPC & Suzie Montgomery.
He was born in Greenville, Texas on August 26, 1894, and just four months later, the family moved to Oklahoma.

Around 1912, Sam met Claudia Verron "Vernie" Cooper, the daughter of William & Elizabeth
Cooper in Sayre, OK. Two years later they were married, and had four children:

Sam was a farmer until 1935, when he was appointed Deputy Sheriff of Beckham County, Oklahoma.
In 1944, Sam was elected Beckham County Sheriff, and served in that office for 6 years.
He had many experiences while in office, including searching for Pretty Boy Floyd when he was considered
to be the #1 outlaw in the country.

The postcard on the right and below
was written by Claudia Verron
to her father-in-law,

a post he held for 11 years until his retirement.
He died September 10, 1975, on his farm west of Elk City, Oklahoma.
