LINDSEY ALLEN MONTGOMERY

Lindsey Allen Montgomery went by the name of "Allen" most of his life. He was born in May of 1888 in Greenville, Texas to LPC Montgomery and his first wife, Sarah (Lynn) Montgomery.

We have very little information about Allen's childhood, but we do know that he spent the first six years of his life in northern Texas before his father moved the family to his grandmother Montgomery's farm near Foss, Indian Territory (in what was to become Custer County in Oklahoma) in late 1894, when Allen was only about 6 years old.

On September 5, 1906, Allen married Annie Elizabeth Kenney in Edwardsville, Custer County, Oklahoma. According to the 1930 Federal Census for Washita Township, Roger Mills County, OK, Annie was 42 in 1930 (the same age as Allen), and was born in Texas. The same census showed that her parents (John & Ellen (Graham) Kenney) were both born in Ireland.

Bobby Montgomery (?-?)

All of their children were born in Oklahoma except for John, who was born in Onida, Arkansas.

The only photo I have of any of Allen's children in Oklahoma is the photo below at left, of his daughter Dorothy.

The photo on the left is of Allen Montgomery on horseback, and on the right, a photo of Allen holding one of his grandchildren.
It appears these photos were taken sometime during the 1930s in Oklahoma.

Annie (Kenney) Montgomery passed away in 1981 and is buried in the White Rose Cemetery near Reydon, Oklahoma.

Allen married Mary Annie Forrest sometime around 1932 or 1933.

We know very little about Mary, and would welcome any information you may have about her and her family.

We do know that Allen and Mary migrated from Oklahoma to the Colusa County area of California early in their marriage, where they raised their family and lived out the rest of their lives.

Billy Lee Montgomery (1948-)

	In 1954, Mary passed away and was buried in the Williams Cemetery at Williams, Colusa County, California. In 1964, Allen passed away and was buried next to her.
