Golightly was born in Georgia, married Alice ------ of Alabama and started several Christian churches in Georgia, Gwinnett County before moving to Opelika, Alabama and then Eastland, Texas. He is listed in the 1860 and 1870 Campbell, GA censuses, 1880 Lee, AL census, 1900 Eastland, TX census, 1910 Ector, TX census and 1920 Matagorda, TX census. His wife Alice is in the 1930 Matagorda, TX census. He had a son named Baxter Golightly who died 16, June l9l9 Matagordia,TX.
