Jacob Meek C14, chart 41, (3/8/1755=5/1840) b. Elkridge, MD. Moved to Westmoreland Co., PA. Enlisted 4/1/1776 in Capt. John Stinson's company, PA Militia. Helped build Ft. Wheeling, served 3 months. Then in Capt. Hugh Stinson's company, discharged 12/25/1776, again enlisted 1779, served 3 months with Capt. Ralph Cherry's company, moved 1792 by flat boat up Licking River where Cincinnati now is (where brother-in-law lived). In March 1793, moved to Henry Co., KY, where his brother John had built "Meeks Station", moved Wayne County, IN in 1806, where he died. Buried on farm, south Richmond, grave visited by your writer in 1947, found it closed by iron fence, decorated by DAR and government Revolutionary War marker.
"Jacob Meek, b. Mar., 1755, at Elkridge, Md., d. May 23, 1840 at Wayne Co., Ind. Buried two mile south of Richmond, Ind. Gov't marker, Revolutionary War, pension claim #S16480. Married first to Nancy Warcins. Married second to Eleanor _______. Ch. John, Patsey Fisher*, Effie Grimes*, Rue Holman*, William, Isaac, Jeremiah Lee, Joshua." *These are the married names of the Meek girls.
